Refrigerator Repair β€” Book a Visit Today

A refrigerator gives you clues before it quits. Water pooling under the crisper. A compressor that hums all night. Ice cream that turns soft while the freezer stays frosted. Most of it comes down to a few families of parts: defrost systems, evaporator fans, door gaskets, control boards, sealed-system components, and water valves that mineral-heavy Sacramento Valley water slowly chokes off. Our visit starts with questions, then temperature readings at both compartments, then a look behind and underneath. We explain what we find in plain words before anything gets replaced. Bring us the details you have noticed, even odd ones like a clicking sound every few minutes. Call us and we will get you scheduled.

Refrigerator Repair β€” residential refrigerator being serviced

The refrigerator symptoms we hear most

  • "The fridge side is warm but the freezer is fine" Evaporator fan motor, damper control, or a defrost failure blocking airflow between compartments.
  • "There's water on my kitchen floor every morning" Clogged defrost drain, cracked water line, or a leaking inlet valve behind the unit.
  • "The ice maker stopped filling" Water valve fouled by hard-water scale, frozen fill tube, or a failed ice maker module.
  • "It runs constantly and never shuts off" Dirty condenser coils, weak door seal, failing thermostat, or a struggling compressor.
  • "Everything in the freezer is covered in frost" Defrost heater or thermostat fault, torn gasket, or a door that isn't latching square.

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call β€” sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Pull the plug for a minute, then plug it back in and see if the lights and fan restart.
  • 2Slide a dollar bill in the door seal and tug; if it slips out easily the gasket is worn.
  • 3Look at the condenser coils under or behind the fridge for a blanket of dust and pet hair.
  • 4Check that vents inside both compartments are not blocked by bags, boxes, or frozen packages.

Refrigerator Repair β€” quick answers

How cold should my refrigerator actually be?

Aim for about 37 degrees in the fresh food side and 0 degrees in the freezer. Put a thermometer in a glass of water overnight for a true reading. If numbers drift far off, something in the cooling or defrost system needs attention.

My fridge is loud. Is that dangerous?

Loud usually means mechanical, not unsafe. Buzzing often traces to a condenser or evaporator fan blade. Rhythmic clicking can be a relay trying to start the compressor. Note when the sound happens and tell us; it narrows the search fast.

Should I save the food inside?

Move perishables to a cooler with ice if the compartment has been above 40 degrees for hours. Keep the freezer closed; a full freezer holds temperature far longer than an empty one. That buys time until we arrive.

Does hard water really hurt a refrigerator?

It does. Much of California runs mineral-heavy water, and scale builds inside fill valves, ice maker molds, and dispenser lines. That shows up as thin ice, slow fill, or cloudy cubes. Regular filter changes slow it down.

Is a repair worth it on an older unit?

We tell you what we find and which parts are involved, then you decide. A gasket, fan, or defrost part on a sound cabinet is often sensible. A failed sealed system on a very old unit is a different conversation.

Do you work on built-in and column refrigerators?

Yes. Built-ins, French door models, side-by-sides, and freestanding units are all in our range, and we work as an independent company on all major brands. Tell us the model number when you call us so we arrive prepared.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call us or fill out the form. Describe what you hear, smell or see. Odd noise, standing water, no heat. Have the model number handy if you can reach it.

  2. Step 2

    We schedule a visit

Pick a window that fits your day. We confirm the address and ask a few questions first, so the van carries parts that commonly fail on your machine.

  3. Step 3

    Diagnose and repair

Our technician tests the machine, explains what failed, and lays out the repair options. Many jobs finish the same visit. Special-order parts get scheduled before we leave.

Questions worth asking any repair company

Ask these of anyone you let into your home β€” us included. Call and we'll answer all five before you book anything.

  • 1Ask for their license numberThen verify it with your state licensing board rather than taking it on trust.
  • 2Ask for proof of insuranceLiability cover protects you if something goes wrong in your home.
  • 3Get the quote in writingIncluding the trip fee, whether it's credited against the repair, and parts.
  • 4Ask how they handle callbacksIf the same fault returns, what happens? Get the answer before work begins.
  • 5Check their own reviewsLook the business up independently β€” their Google profile, not just what they tell you.

Why homeowners call us

  • Hard water knowledgeSacramento Valley minerals scale up heating elements, valves and spray arms. We look for buildup, not just broken parts. Clearing scale and replacing clogged components keeps dishwashers and washers from failing the same way again.
  • Heat pump dryersNewer heat pump dryers dry differently and fail differently. Clogged condensers, blocked drains and long cycle times all have causes. We service these units and vented models alike, and explain what the machine needs.
  • Statewide coverageBased in North Highlands, working across California. Coastal humidity, valley heat and desert dust each stress appliances in their own way. We factor local conditions into the diagnosis instead of guessing.
  • Straight answersSome machines are worth repairing. Some are not. We tell you which, based on the failed part, the age of the unit and what else is likely to go. Then you decide.
  • All major brands, gas & electricWhirlpool, Samsung, LG, GE, Maytag, Bosch, KitchenAid and more β€” as an independent repair company.
  • Straight answersIf it isn't worth repairing, we'll say so β€” often on the phone.
