How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?
Once a year suits most families. Bigger households, long duct runs, or a rooftop vent may need it more often. If dry times creep up before the year is out, that is the vent asking for attention, not the dryer failing.
Can I just use a brush kit from the hardware store?
Short straight runs, sometimes. Long runs with elbows tend to push lint into a plug instead of pulling it out. We work from both ends with a rotary brush and vacuum, so debris leaves the duct rather than moving deeper into it.
Is flexible foil duct a problem?
The ridges catch lint and the material crushes easily behind the machine. Rigid or semi-rigid metal moves air better and cleans out more completely. We can swap a short transition piece during the same visit if yours is damaged.
My vent exits through the roof. Does that change anything?
Yes. Vertical runs collect lint at the base and the cap invites bird nests. Access takes longer and the cap may need clearing or replacement. Mention the roof exit when you call us so we bring the right gear.
